Jarryd Felton finished the 2017/2018 season with a T9th at the Australian PGA helping him to finish a career best 12th on the Australasian Order of Merit.
I think for Felts and his support team the week will best be remembered by his close call on the Par 3 16th hole on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday, there was a $1Million prize for a Hole in One, $500,000 going to the player that aced the hole with another $500,000 going to a random spectator that drew that player in a draw.
Felt's got to the 16th hole on Sunday after just birdieing the 15th hole, putting him a shot outside of the Top 10.
The hole was playing approximately 178m and Felt's flushed an 8iron right at the pin, the ball pitching approximately 8ft from the hole and slamming into the flagstick, dropping 1ft from the hole. The pain of coming so close to the $1Million prize was cushioned by a tap in birdie and some much needed momentum to close with 2 solid pars and a T9th finish to close out the season.
The PGA was one of those weeks where you leave feeling super proud of a client for how they handled themselves and pushed through some barriers that in the past they may have struggled to breakthrough. So often it's not about the result of a tournament but the steps they make mentally and emotionally that in time, will help to translate into some great on course performances. This was one of those weeks for Felt's and i'm excited to keep the mental momentum for 2019!
